about
[Welsh below]
'Adleisio' is the Welsh work for echo. The lyrics beckon us to listen closely to the land and hear what it has to say. If we listen close enough, we can hear echoes of the land calling us back to a distant remembering that we humans are a part of nature, and not separate. We are part of the land and can learn so much from the reciprocity of nature, if we take a moment to listen.
This song was commissioned by the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park as a celebration of it’s 70th birthday in 2021. As part of this celebration, the park has commissioned poetry, dance pieces, art and more.
Eve Goodman and Owain Roberts (Seindorf) started writing this song after being inspired by the words of poet Ifor Ap Glyn from his poem, ‘Holwyddoreg Eryri’. They recorded Eve’s vocals in Sain Studio, Llandwrog. The song also features sounds from nature- the national park itself; recordings of the river Ogwen and slate from the shores of Llyn Padarn are woven into the piece, to create a sonic landscape. Elin Haf’s beautiful cello playing also adorns the song, alongside Owain’s piano. The music video can be seen on Youtube and was produced by local filmmaker, Andy Pritchard, who has captured stunning footage on his explorations of the park.
Cafodd y gân ei gomisynnu gan Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri fel rhan o’r dathliadau y parc yn 70 oed eleni. Fel rhan o’r dathliadau hyn, mae’r parc hefyd wedi comisynnu barddoniaeth, gweithiau dawns, celf a llawer mwy.
Bu i Eve ac Owain gyd-weithio ar ysgrifennu cân ar ôl dwyn ysbrydoliaeth o eiriau’r gerdd ‘Holwyddoreg Eryri’ gan Ifor Ap Glyn. Aethant ati i recordio’r llais yn Stiwdio Sain, Llandwrog cyn mynd ymlaen i recordio sawl elfen o sain natur y Parc ei hun, gan gynnwys afon Ogwen a llechi ar bwys Llyn Padarn a phlethu rhain fewn i wead sonig y darn. Bu iddynt hefyd wahodd Elin Haf i recordio soddgrwth ar ben gwaith piano celfydd Owain. Cynhyrchwyd video i gyd-fynd gyda’r gân gyda Andy Pritchard yn cymeryd y gwaith cyfarwyddo ac yn
trafeilio hyd a lled y parc yn dal harddwch y tirlun ar ffilm.
lyrics
Adleisio
Mae porffor y grug yn cyhoeddi
A'r afon yn codi ei llais
Ma’r llyn fel drych yn llewyrchu
A'r creigiau yn taflu adlais
CYTGAN
Treulia eiliad yn gwrando
A chlywed galwad y tir
Lleisiau y lle yn adleisio
Clywed enw dy hyn
Dos i ddarganfod y goriad
Sy’n agor drws y coed
Dilyna y llwybyr at rhyddid
Gad ddim on ol dy droed

If there's one thing I love about Bandcamp is how easily you can fall in love instantly with an artist just by listening to one song. That's what happened to me with this album that drew me in after the first seconds of "Paperthin" with the graceful voice of Lucy Farrell. A great album, a wonderful discovery, a gifted singer.
